The Choir of Glass
The crew found a field of transparent fragments standing upright in the soil. Wind moved through them and produced separate tones. When the Resonant singer answered one tone, the entire field shifted into a chord.
The Glassmind analyst found that the chord encoded measurements of the surrounding pressure, but not in a stable order. Each repetition changed one note and altered the apparent distance to the Vault.
The team left the fragments in place. MOTHER's copy calls them a natural instrument. The analyst's copy calls them a measuring device that has learned to make its measurements beautiful enough to be heard.
