The Body at Mile Marker Twelve

The crew found a living person beneath a fallen distance marker. The person had no route tag, no working identification and a body that responded to every question with a different pulse.

The Firstfailure witness stayed beside the patient during extraction. At intake, the Silkvein repairer closed the largest wound but left one section deliberately open until the patient could answer whether they wanted the repair completed.

The patient eventually spoke a name not found in any registry and declined origin classification. MOTHER sealed the route file. The medical board retained only the consent record, which became the first document in the Vault to treat an unknown body as a person before treating it as evidence.
