The Road Called Home
The returning witness claimed that the exterior road had not changed, but their idea of home had. They had walked past abandoned signs, open ground and the shell of a place built for people who never reached it. Nothing attacked them. Nothing welcomed them.
They returned before the shift change and refused to identify the route.
Their family asked MOTHER to erase the testimony, fearing that it would turn a private act of survival into a public demand for an opening. MOTHER refused. The council released an edited copy instead.
