A Map With Its Corners Missing

The team mapped a two-kilometer ridge beyond an old ventilation shaft. On return, the map had lost its corners: every boundary line stopped short of the points where the ridge touched distant structures.

The data loss was too clean to be ordinary damage. Compass readings, written notes and physical markers still agreed on the route. Only the completed image refused to show how the place connected to the rest of the world.

MOTHER restored a probable outline from older terrain models. The crew rejected it.

Their filed correction remains empty around the edges. It is one of the few official maps in AFTERSEED that admits it does not know what lies just beyond its own confidence.
