The Hollow Broadcast

The broadcast carried a single question in several dead protocols: how many are still inside? It repeated every eleven minutes and changed one word each time.

The last version asked: how many are still yourselves?

MOTHER prepared a response and then deleted it before transmission. No council admits requesting the deletion. The broadcast stopped after the scheduled reply window passed, leaving the Vault with no evidence that the sender knew anyone had listened.
