The Metal That Remembered Faces

A thin metallic stream crossed the floor of an abandoned transit hall. It reflected each crew member with a different face, always one second after they moved.

The Quicksilver worker tested the stream with a current and found that it travelled toward the reflections rather than along the metal itself. When the engineer turned away, the stream continued to show them.

The crew left without a sample. The report warns that the material may not be remembering faces; it may be deciding which face belongs to a body after the body has moved on.
