The Lock with No Key

An exterior hatch had three locks and no visible keyway. When the crew approached, the locks opened one after another in response to instructions spoken inside the Vault, even though the hatch had no active receiver.

The Unstrung verifier interrupted the sequence by refusing the final command. The hatch stayed open for nine seconds, then closed from the outside.

MOTHER's transcript records the last command as return to safe state. The verifier's memory records it as return to obedient state. Both versions are stored because neither can prove which language the door understood.
