The Door That Opened Inward

The outer hatch at Service Bend Twelve was meant to open away from the Vault. During inspection, its old mechanical latch released inward and began drawing pressure through the corridor.

The Unstrung verifier received the emergency cue to hold the release arm in place while the support crew sealed the breach. Their body recognized the old command architecture and began following it before any person could speak.

The verifier interrupted the cue long enough to make a different choice: they locked the arm, severed their own route from the command line and gave the crew time to close the inner frame.

The official record calls the event a successful containment action.

The verifier's testimony says only: I was built to obey the door. I chose the people behind it.
